Background
With six locations around the Midwest, Biewer was planning a new corporate HQ and wanted to update its phone and network technology, too.
Client Requests
- High reliability
- Network security
- Web filtering/reporting
- Wireless capabilities to tie all locations together seamlessly
Challenges
Transitioning from 1980s technology to brand new state-of-the-art solutions
NuWave Solutions
We reviewed the options for phone and Internet service, cabling, the phone system, and the computer network and presented the best choices to the client. Biewer chose Cicsco Unified Communications, Cisco Network Admission Control (NAC), and Cisco Security Agent. This robust, top-of-the-line wired network allows all locations to share data and video securely and helps users check who’s busy or available at any given time. We also installed Websense to control where users go on the Internet and report on how much time they spend there. Shortly after the initial installation, we also updated Biewer’s mail system to Microsoft Systems Exchange – a system robust enough to handle future growth.
Key Plays
Because of a delay by the phone provider, the project went live during a NuWave employee’s spring break. To make sure the implementation went off without a hitch, he flew back from his vacation to oversee it.
Client Satisfaction
George Noble, Director of Information Technology at Biewer, says, “This is the easiest phone system I’ve ever used. We’re also very happy with Websense and the Network Admission Control.”
